My intention is to say something about the potential of the commons as a political project. In the first part I draw from the work of Elinor Ostrom to derive key principles of the commons as a political project. In the second part I reflect on what I see as problematic in the current literature on the commons and in the third part I develop an argument about one way in which the commons could be a radical democratic project.
